From its design concept to the architectural detail and landscaping features, this home has been built to create an impression.
Gremmo Homes latest Display Home began with a simple concept – “Our objective was to create a unique contemporary design with an abundance of space and light.” says Richard Gremmo.
“We wanted to create something inspired, with finishes and inclusions that you wouldn’t usually find in a Display Home. We are a custom builder and we wanted the home to reflect the design concepts and solutions that we have incorporated into many of our clients homes. Some of these concepts are grand and some are subtle, but they all contribute to an intricate level of detail in the home. For instance the home utilizes clear anodized skirting’s and trims to compliment its contemporary styling, which is an unconventional but aesthetically stunning treatment, as are the rock maple veneer internal doors.”
The home has a Northerly aspect to its rear, providing a fantastic opportunity to capture light with the abundant glazing. From the operable skylights and clerestory windows to the vergola roof system in the alfresco living area, the original design concept has been adhered to and extrapolated.
White porcelain floors and subtle wall tones enhance the light and open feel of the home, with an injection of colour provided through the inclusion of strategic decorating pieces. The fabric panels which dominate the entry of the home not only provide colour, they also provide an acoustic treatment for the resonance of the polished porcelien floor.
Gremmo Homes commissioned renowned artist Gemma Lynch Memory to create a number of stunning pieces to display throughout the home. Gremmo Homes have been long time admirers of the artists work and were excited by the opportunity to form a creative partnership to enhance the individuality of the home.
The technological management of the home utilizes C-Bus configuration which is operated via a Switch Automation touch screen to administer the lighting, climate control and audio distribution throughout the home. Programmable lighting features have been incorporated to enhance the architectural treatments both internally and externally.
The home limits its environmental impact through its solar passive design and ventilation in combination with the use of photo voltaic power generation. The intelligent home automation programming also ensures that the home operates efficiently, with minimal wastage of resources. The recycling of collected rain water and drip feed irrigation of the gardens also limits the environmental impact of the home.
The entry and vestibule of the home encapsulate the design concept – an abundance of space and light. This concept is emphasized by the raking ceiling and unique clear glass balustrade treatment.
A home of this caliber deserves a master suite, not just a bedroom. The baby grand piano and detailed joinery and lighting features to the walk in robe create a sense of elegance and style. Clear anodized glass sliding doors lead to the ensuite which incorporates marble floors and walls in conjunction with a glazed mosaic feature wall to add to the luxury surrounds of the Master Suite.
The kitchen is uncluttered, and enhances its sleek lines with an unconventional window design and feature lighting. European appliances and an intricate benchtop detail combine with soft close drawers and doors to enhance the contemporary appeal.
The dedicated Home Theatre had a specific design brief for the Gremmo Homes Interior Design team: Go for it! The result is an inspired silver and gold themed room with all of the luxury inclusions you would expect. Careful attention has been applied to the volume attenuation and acoustics of the room to ensure the complete Hollywood experience is achieved.
The Billiard Room is a much sought after inclusion in many of Gremmo Homes designs. In keeping with the contemporary theme of the home, Gremmo Homes used an unconventional treatment for the billiard table, moving from a traditional table to a rock maple and polished silver design which compliments the internal doors and trimmings of the home. The Billiard Room also features a Stringybark parquetry timber floor.
The Alfresco living area of the home has been designed to take full advantage of Sydney’s wonderful climate. An outdoor kitchen which includes an oven, fridge and Teppanyaki BBQ ensures that you won’t have to leave your guests unattended while they relax by the stunning dining table which has been back lit in blue to compliment the adjacent pool. Entertaining in winter has not been neglected with the sunny northerly aspect and inclusion of an outdoor fireplace. A vergola roof system ensures that the harsher elements won’t interrupt your lifestyle.
The integration of the pool design into the home supplements the amount of light which the home harnesses and is the fulcrum of the rear yard. The pool provides a transition between the living areas of the home and its gardens, and makes use of colour to ensure that its atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.
Sofala random quartz has been used as a cladding feature for the façade and al fresco areas of the home with its earthy tones juxtaposing the contemporary rendered wall and glazing treatments. The random quartz has also been included as a landscaping feature.
The landscape design of the home makes use of advanced trees and planting. The centrepiece of the front yard is a unique Narrowleaf Bottle Tree. Classic Stone paving has been used for the driveway and large stepping stones which compliment the homes façade and landscaping treatments.
Gremmo Homes have worked with Defined Gardens on many projects and have a fantastic understanding of what has to be achieved with each new landscape design and construction. “A home such as this one demands a stunning landscape and planting design. By working with a builder during the incubation of the home design we are able to ensure that our landscape design compliments what every owner is hoping to achieve – a seamless integration between the design and functionality of a home and its gardens”, said Grant Clement, director of Defined Gardens.
