Gremmo Homes latest Display Home began with a simple concept – “Our objective was to create a contemporary design with a relaxed feel.” says Richard Gremmo.

“There are finishes and inclusions that you wouldn’t usually find in a Display Home. We have over 20 years of experience as a custom home builder, and we are well aware of the design concepts and inclusions that are both popular and also functional. We have worked hard to create an adaptable layout that can be easily adjusted to accommodate unique circumstances such as narrow width lots and sloping sites”.

The home has a substantial street presence which is accentuated by two advanced native Brachychiton ‘Bottle’ trees. Welcoming wide formed stairs provide a subtle transition from the footpath to the entry of the home which is framed by a double storey glazed vestibule.

The façade of the home incorporates organic free formed stone walling with hardwood timber cladding to juxtapose the smooth rendered walls. Sleek commercial glazing lines combine harmoniously with an understated landscape design which addresses the slope of the site as well as the aesthetics.

The home has a Northerly aspect to its rear, providing a fantastic opportunity to capture the abundant light. The integration of the pool design also supplements the amount of light which the home harnesses and it is the fulcrum of the rear yard. Three outdoor living spaces provide a transition between the home and its gardens, and ensure that the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.

The central living room is the heart of the home. Guests can enjoy views of the sparkling adjacent pool and landscaped yards, the perfect space for relaxation with its fire place and bar. The fire place is framed with a stack bond brickwork structure which serves as the structural centerpiece of the home.

Infusions of timber and natural stone combine with subtle wall tones to add warmth to the open feel of the home, with an injection of colour provided through the inclusion of strategic decorating pieces. Custom upholstery and a layering of textures and fabrics provide sophistication, while some modern art and subtle lighting add ambience.

A dedicated Home Theatre provides all of the luxury inclusions required to kick back and take it easy. Careful attention has been applied to the volume attenuation and acoustic treatment of the room to ensure the complete Hollywood experience is achieved.

Guest accommodation and inter-generational living has also been catered for with a downstairs bedroom that incorporates its own powder room. This space has the ability to function as a study or home office, ensuring that a number of lifestyle requirements have been considered.

The kitchen is uncluttered, and balances its sleek lines with an understated timber ceiling treatment. European appliances and refined benchtop details combine with soft close drawers and doors to enhance the contemporary appeal. A geometric splash back detail adds further texture and pattern to the design, while a butler’s pantry ensures that the kitchen remains functional. An unconventional integrated meals table frees up space, a detail which is also accented in the outdoor al-fresco kitchen.

Spotted gum timber flooring is predominately featured throughout the living areas of the home, and is complimented by the kitchen ceiling treatment and the timber staircase which leads upstairs. A uniquely lit minimalist handrail detail ensures that this transition is fluent.

The relaxed atmosphere of the home is supplemented by two unique hanging pod chairs in the up-stairs living area, the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The colour palette is fresh and the furniture choices inspired, while each bedroom also maintains its own eclectic style to ensure things remain interesting.

A home of this caliber deserves a master suite, not just a main bedroom. Inspired by the opulence of a luxury hotel suite, this space incorporates detailed joinery and subtle lighting features to enhance the elegance and style. The sophisticated en-suite incorporates large format tiles in conjunction with a frameless glass shower screen. Headlight windows allow the light to stream in, and they also provide views to the mountains beyond.

The home limits its environmental impact through its solar passive design and ventilation in combination with the use of photo voltaic power generation. Intelligent home automation and programming ensures that the home operates efficiently, with minimal wastage of resources. The recycling of collected rain water and drip feed irrigation of the gardens also assists with water conservation. Strategic placement of skylights throughout the home improves the natural light quality.

The integration of the pool and yard into the design of the home is complimented by the outdoor living area which features a cantilevered roof to ensure that no structural elements inhibit this transition. “An integral aspect of the design of this home is the proximity of the pool to the living areas of the home. Our onsite team paid great attention to detail in these areas, and we achieved an exceptional final result” said Richard.

The external alfresco living area of the home has been designed to take full advantage of Sydney’s wonderful climate. An outdoor kitchen which includes a Teppanyaki BBQ ensures that you won’t have to leave your guests unattended while they relax by the stunning dining table which compliments the details of the kitchen.

A landscape design which incorporates a number of advanced plants and trees balances some of the more linear elements of the home while enhancing other architectural renderings such as the structural stone and timber cladding. The planting schedule addresses the colour palette of the home while creating  additional texture.

A cohesive management of the home, pool and landscape design and construction process has ensured that this home is both functional and aesthetically pleasing whilst maintaining a high level of attention to quality and detail. This is a home where you can sit back and relax in style.
