Internally, the layout has been carefully planned with a true modernist approach, and a deep understanding of the families varying living requirements. With the importance of passive design paramount, double glazed commercial windows, skylights, and dramatically oversized cantilevered balconies are used to effortlessly connect occupants with each other, make use of natural pathways for airflow and control temperature through design.
Externally, a bold, monochromatic palette was thoughtfully selected to create street presence to a narrow 11 metre block. Layers of dark walls, charred timber cladding and concrete have been intentionally grouped together to create a moody, unambiguous façade. To assist in softening the external finishes, organic textures such as quartz crazy paved surfaces have been included, as well as a custom made, oversized pivot oak door. The end result, a deliberate, powerful and unapologetic minimalist façade.
