Pearl Beach

This spectacular home is nestled in the picturesque leafy suburb of Pearl Beach on the Central Coast of NSW. The design of the home takes every opportunity to capture the exquisite views across to picturesque Lion Island and Broken Bay. From the open plan kitchen and living space to the floating spotted gum staircase, there is little that impedes the focus on the stunning backdrop. Considered solar passive design allows light to stream into the internal living areas, as well as encouraging the gentle sea breeze to cool the home. Two separate external living spaces allow the occupants to take full advantage of the winter sun on the front sundeck and enjoy respite from the summer sun on the rear al-fresco.

Exposure grade construction materials have been included due to the proximity of the harsh marine environment. Natural casuarina Decowood vertical cladding was chosen as a low maintenance alternative to natural timber. The modern four bedroom / four bath room layout also includes a living and dining space as well as a study, all complimented by a designer kitchen with requisite butler’s pantry space. The island bench includes spotted gum on the bar front with a featured dropped ceiling to match. Dekton Opera has been used for the benchtops and cooktop splashback, creating a sense of drama and opulence. Villeroy & Boch basins & toilets have been included in the bathrooms along with heated towel rails, backlit mirrors and brushed nickel tapware. A Robert Gordon basin features in the powder room while the strategically situated bath to the master ensuite captures the ocean breeze and views.
The landscape design again considers the harsh marine environment through the utilisation of hardy native plant species which were carefully selected to be low maintenance and drought tolerant. Natural stone and woodgrain concrete sleepers in conjunction with natural grasses have been utilised to soften the driveway pallet. To the rear of the home, naturally ageing timber stairs and balustrade cascade down onto the sandy beach adjacent to the large pine tree which provides shade in the warmer months – the perfect location to enjoy this pristine location and laidback seaside atmosphere. This home was a winner at the 2022 Master Builders Association Excellence in Housing Awards in the $1.8 – $2million Custom Home category, in addition to winning the HIA Hunter Region Residential Interior Design Award and the HIA Hunter Region Custom Built Home Award in the $1.5 – $2million category.
